Why Trust in Trump is Misplaced - A Call to Reflect
Dear Trump supporters, this is a plea and appeal to think deeply about the path you are on. Let us take stock of the situation and strive to make principled, informed decisions.
The Remedy for Evil
There are many who have freely spoken out against Trump, often in unkind terms. I am included among these. Over the past eight years, I have expressed my dissatisfaction with his actions, but I have also expressed my regret over some of the harsh words. I believe fervently in the goodness of America, and this conviction drives my actions today.
One of the stories that resonated with me was that of Australian friends traveling through the heartland of the USA as part of a Third Day tour. They recounted tales of the hospitality and honesty of the people in 'red states', like Texas, which left an enduring impression on me. It was a reminder of the American spirit, and this connection fueled my dismay when many recommended supporting Trump, given his rhetoric and actions.
Unbridled Fervor Can Prodvecs Opposite Outcomes
At first, my disappointment stemmed from sadness, as the frustration of the American people seemed to find an outlet through him. Yet, as time went on, I began to see a far more dangerous reality. Many people placed their hopes in Donald Trump in a manner that was misguided and potentially catastrophic. This misplaced trust, in all its fervor, may have inadvertently accelerated the moral degradation of the country rather than alleviating it.
The Morality of Amorality
One of the most troubling aspects of Trump’s approach is his amoral stance. He sees no contradiction in speaking one truth to one person while speaking another to another. This was evident in his claims about the results of the 2020 election, where he repeatedly stated that the election was not rigged, and yet continued to encourage efforts to make his victories even more decisive, or 'too big to rig'.
Self-Contradictory Messaging and Deconstruction
Let us dissect his argument. Suppose, hypothetically, the election was indeed rigged, and he won by a landslide. If one were to repeat the same efforts, the result would not change because the rigged outcome is pre-determined. This is a simple, irrefutable logic. Trump’s message, in essence, is self-contradictory and designed to flip things on their head while maintaining control.
Moreover, the rigging of the election, if it were to occur, would not be altered by a larger number of votes. Previous elections saw careful oversight, recounts, and legal challenges. The system, though imperfect, has mechanisms to ensure transparency and fairness. Telling people to vote to 'prove' the election's validity is not a rational call to action.
The Snake in the Grass Argument
There is an old story of a snake that asks, 'Did God really say you shall not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil?' In a metaphorical sense, the snake tempts with the idea that questioning the established order can lead to ultimate wisdom and power. This is the same approach that Trump takes, using rhetoric to manipulate and control instead of seeking genuine change.
To the voting public, Trump is a master of persuasion, using emotional appeals to stir up anger and fear. He knows that the truth is not as important as the narrative he creates. By repeating his falsehoods, he discredits legitimate concerns and distracts from the real issues at hand.
A Call to Reflect and Act
For the sake of your communities, your families, and your country, please consider this carefully. Trump’s populist, undifferentiated call to 'Make America Great Again' is not a recipe for unity or progress. If you resign yourself to believing that the election was, or is, rigged, then you are simplifying a complex issue.
Based on the available evidence, no voting vote margin, no matter how large, can alter a rigged election. It did not before, and it will not now. Trump’s repeated claims of election rigging are not a call to rationality but a continuation of his campaign to sow distrust and maintain power through false narratives.
The election is coming up soon, and you have a choice. Will you continue to be manipulated by rhetoric and promises, or will you choose to act with wisdom and integrity? The path you choose will have lasting effects on our country.
Dearest Trump supporters, please, for the love of our nation, open your eyes and consider the truth. Let us make informed, principled decisions that reflect the values of our country.
