The Romantic Escape to Santorini: Planning Your Greek Honeymoon in April 2018

We are planning our honeymoon to Greece in April 2018 and decided to explore the enchanting island of Santorini. Discover our tips for finding the perfect place to stay and the must-see attractions that will make your experience unforgettable. From luxurious villas to scenic sunsets, Santorini offers a range of opportunities for a memorable honeymoon.

Where to Stay in Santorini for a Soulful Escape

Your budget will guide your decision process, but we strongly recommend staying in the charming village of Oia for a truly romantic experience. Most luxury hotels in Oia are known for their breathtaking views and tranquil ambiance. For those seeking a more secluded alternative, Fira is also a great option. Fira, while slightly more bustling, offers stunning views of the Aegean Sea.

No matter where you choose, make sure to book a sunset cruise and dine at the picturesque Ammoudi port, a short walk away from Oia. The port is known for its fish fresh from the sea, making it a perfect spot for a romantic evening.

Exploring Santorini: Activities and Attractions

From walking along the cliffs to visiting ancient archaeological sites, Santorini has a wealth of activities to keep you engaged. The island is known for its breathtaking views, so simply staying in your villa and exploring the private pools can be a blissful experience. Don't miss a boat tour to the volcanic crater or a visit to a winery for a taste of the island's traditional Vinsanto wine.

For a truly magical experience, consider booking a luxury villa through Airbnb. Our favorite was the "Adam and Eve" villa, where we enjoyed a romantic night with views of Santorini under the stars. Another highlight of our honeymoon was the Volcano Cruise, which involved a cable car ride down to the ferry and a scenic journey to an inactive volcano island. The views of the blue waters and the black volcanic rock formations were absolutely stunning.

FromFiled: A Romantic Vision of Santorini

The city of Santorini itself is a marvel of Venetian and Cycladic architecture, known for its blue domes and white-washed houses. The Mediterranean waters are remarkably blue, a sight that we have never experienced elsewhere. We particularly fell in love with the houses in Immogveli, where we stayed in the "Greek Goddess Juicy Villa." The villa had a private pool and breathtaking views, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sunset from Fira.

One of the key activities that we did was a sunken ship exploration, though this requires a strong sense of adventure as the beach conditions can be challenging. We managed to take a short swim and were thoroughly entertained by the waves and the rugged terrain. Despite the sunken ship experience, the overall experience of Santorini was magical, and we left with delightful memories and a bottle of Vinsanto wine to savor.

Our final day in Santorini was filled with dancing and relaxation, as we relished the last moments of our romantic honeymoon. After a day of fun and adventure, we eventually made our way to Athens and then flew to Amsterdam, but the memories of our time in Santorini will last a lifetime. If you're planning your honeymoon to Greece, Santorini is the perfect destination to create unforgettable moments.
