The Allure of Beach Waves: A Self-Employed Digital Nomads Perspective

The Allure of Beach Waves: A Self-Employed Digital Nomad's Perspective

There are times when it feels so good, one can just sit on the beach and do nothing. The rhythmic sound of the waves, the salty breeze, and the tranquility of watching the waves roll in can be incredibly soothing. However, for many, this idyllic scene might be relished through a video of the sunrise on the beach due to the inability to be physically present there.

Flexibility of Self-Employment

For those ensconced in their own ventures, the world is their oyster. Being self-employed with an online business offers the luxury of working from anywhere, at any time. This flexibility is nothing short of brilliant. Imagine the freedom of creating income without the geographical constraints. I can only dream of such luxury!

Recall that golden period when, in 2010, I had the privilege of being in California. There, I took the opportunity to sit on the sand and watch the waves, inaudible to me but resonant for millions of years. The sound of the waves crashing onto the beach, following an epic journey across the ocean, is a symphony of natural harmony. Those waves did their part of crashing into the beach well before humans arrived and, in all likelihood, will continue long after we're gone. They have witnessed the eons of geological and biological evolution, including the rise and fall of the dinosaurs, and perhaps many more iterations of life on this planet.

Awe-Inspiring Realization

The long and undying process of ocean waves is awe-inspiring. No matter the amount of money you make, the adventures you have in life, or the legacies you leave behind for future generations, the waves will continue to crash onto the beach. In a cosmic context, you suddenly realize how insignificant your accomplishments and lifespan are in comparison to the vastness of the natural world and the eternal sea.

Listening to the waves is a meditative experience, reminding us of our place in the universe. It can be humbling to realize that there are forces much greater and timeless than ourselves. It’s a small comfort and a profound realization to know that no matter what happens, the ocean waves will still be there, doing their thing, for billions of years to come. Some day, even the oceans might die, but for now, they continue to shape the shoreline and provide us with a tranquil escape.

Alternative Experiences

While the desire to sit and listen to the waves might be strong, some might find themselves yearning to dive in and experience the water firsthand. These activities like splashing and surfing offer a thrill that sitting on the sand can’t match. However, as a self-employed digital nomad, my approach might be more cautious. Being content with the shallow waters is my preference. There’s a lurking fear of the unknown, the potential for lurking dangers, and the unease of the vast ocean that keeps me content with the waves only.

Therefore, while the allure of beach waves is undeniable, its impact on your life and experiences is profound. It’s a small symbol of the vastness of time and space, and an opportunity to find peace in a world saturated with chaos.
