Is Universal Studios Worth the Trip?
Universal Studios is a well-loved destination for visitors seeking an immersive and exciting experience. Whether you're in Hollywood, Singapore, or Orlando, the parks offer a range of attractions and experiences that can be both thrilling and memorable. In this article, we'll explore the value and enjoyment of visiting Universal Studios, with a focus on the Hollywood location as well as other Universal locations in Orlando and beyond.
Universal Studios Hollywood: An Experience Worth the VIP Program
During my visit to Universal Studios Hollywood in September 2019, I found it to be an incredible day out. While I can't speak with certainty about Universal Studios in Orlando or Singapore, my recommendations for the Hollywood location are as follows.
AaaVip program is highly recommended, offering admission, valet parking, a light breakfast, a guide for a group of no more than ten, and front-of-the-line access to attractions. You're also entitled to a semi-gourmet buffet lunch and a few additional hours of park time after the group experience. The term 'universally' applied to attractions means they are comparable to Disney's, especially for fans of the Harry Potter franchise. The park offers a unique and detailed experience. The guide program is designed to ensure an efficient and enjoyable visit, making sure you hit all the key areas that regular ticket holders might miss.Is Universal Studios in Florida Worth It?
Universal Studios in Florida, including Orlando, is a major draw for theme park enthusiasts. The park is indeed worth a full day visit if you're already in the area for another reason. My personal opinion is that it might now be worth a dedicated vacation, especially with the abundance of exciting attractions and the variety of experiences offered.
There are differing opinions on the value and appeal of Universal Studios, particularly for fans of the Harry Potter franchise. For those who enjoy Harry Potter, Universal Studios is a must-visit. However, for those who prefer a broader range of attractions and experiences, Disney World in Orlando offers a wider variety of parks with four main theme parks and two water parks, providing a more diverse experience.
Personal Experience: Multiple Visits and Regrets
I have visited Universal Studios in multiple locations, including Hollywood, Orlando, and Singapore, and can attest to the value of these parks. Orlando's Universal Studios, in particular, has stood out to me as a standout park, comparable to the overwhelming theme park density in Canada's Wonderland.
One of the biggest regrets in my Orlando trip was the choice to spend time at Universal Studios while my father had work commitments, and to spend his day off at Epcot. Epcot turned out to be a rather disappointing experience for me.
There have been changes at Universal Studios, such as the elimination of classic rides like Back to the Future, which I personally disliked. Additionally, the change in ownership from Fox to Disney has impacted some of Universal's properties, such as the Simpsons Ride and the Terminator live show.
Conclusion
Visiting Universal Studios can be an incredible experience, but it's important to consider your own preferences and the value you seek from a theme park trip. For fans of the Harry Potter franchise, Universal Studios is an absolute must. For a broader range of attractions and experiences, consider Disney World in Orlando. Ultimately, Universal Studios offers a unique and exciting experience, making it worth a visit.
