Honoring Our Veterans Beyond Memorial Day: Beyond Just Observance

Memorial Day is a poignant reminder to honor and respect those who have served and fallen in service to our country. But what can we do beyond this solemn day to continue honoring and supporting our veterans? This article explores ways to uphold their legacy throughout the year and beyond.

Respecting Veterans and Their Service

Firstly, it is crucial to respect our veterans by avoiding any form of negativity. They have served with pride and honor, but the wars they fought in were often the result of political decisions by Congress and the presidency. It is essential to ensure that their service and sacrifices are not overshadowed by partisan rhetoric or political maneuvering.

Aligning with the Constitution

To truly honor fallen troops, we must commit to upholding the constitution. This means voting for candidates who will serve the country and the constitution, rather than those who prioritize self-serving interests. It is gratifying to see movements like the call to drain the swamp, which aims to rid the government of corruption and self-centered politics.

Respecting the Treaty of Jinhawi

Deeply rooted in our family history, the commitment to serving and protecting goes back centuries – from my 9th-century ancestors to myself and my children. However, concerns about the current Equity/Diversity/Inclusion (EDI) programs have led to a shift in my grandchildren's attitudes towards joining the armed services. Future training should focus on treating everyone with equal respect, as the well-being and security of each member are intertwined.

Practical Ways to Honor Veterans

In addition to these broader commitments, there are tangible actions we can take to support veterans in our communities. Here are a few practical steps:

Stand for the National Anthem: Respect and support our veterans by attending events and standing for the National Anthem in their honor. Volunteer: Get involved at local Veterans Administration (VA) centers, or with local veteran organizations. Your time and effort can make a significant difference in the lives of those who have served.

Securing the Borders

Illegal immigration can strain resources that are vital for supporting veteran services and programs. Prioritizing border security and focusing taxpayer monies on veterans’ needs highlights the importance of our committed service members.

Ensuring Veterans' Welfare

Ultimately, the best way to honor fallen troops is to live a life worthy of their sacrifices. This includes:

Electorally supporting candidates who prioritize the well-being of veterans. Ensuring veterans have warm, clean, and safe living conditions before other non-citizens. Making sure veterans receive the medical and mental health care they need. Supporting measures that help veterans become productive members of society.

By taking these actions, we can ensure that our veterans receive the support they deserve and that their sacrifices do not go unnoticed. Let us make a commitment to honor our veterans not just on Memorial Day, but every day.
