Bringing Food to Disneyland: How to Navigate the Rules for a Pesky Poacher
Planning a trip to Disneyland? Wondering if you are allowed to bring food and drink into the park? The good news is that you can indeed bring food with you, but there are a few rules to follow. This guide will help you navigate the specifics.
Understanding the Rules
No coolers, no food, no thermos bottles. Did that catch your attention? It's true; you cannot bring any of these items into the park. However, there is a food area just outside the park with benches where you can eat your food. You can even get a return band to re-enter the park after enjoying your meal.
The main rule to remember when bringing food is that you must purchase all of your food inside the park. There are a few exceptions for medical reasons, such as formulas for infants or liquid meals for individuals on feeding tubes.
What Can You Bring?
The short answer is yes, you can bring food, provided it meets certain criteria:
No alcohol No glass bottles (this is a no-brainer, right?) A reasonable number of baby food jars is okay No loose or dry ice in coolersWhen I worked at the TTC (Ticket Transportation Center), we allowed visitors to bring food, regardless of their ticket type. Summer months can get quite hot, so it's best to avoid prone-to-spoilage foods like mayonnaise and other condiments.
Examples of Permitted and Not-Permitted Items
No glass containers, no alcohol, no re-heating of snacks, and nothing with a strong odor. No single ice cubes or large ice chests allowed. Bring a small ice pack in a vinyl bag to keep your food cold. Avoid big meals and stick to light snacks.
During a recent nine-day trip, I saw individuals bringing in snacks. Infants and small children had bottled milk, small cartons of milk, small juice packs, fruit, and small raw vegetables. One mother carried a half-sandwich for her two young children, along with carrot sticks, crackers, celery sticks, and small packages of applesauce. They quietly enjoyed their lunch in the shade.
The parents, however, consumed a beer and pretzels, which is permitted as they are non-alcoholic beverages.
The Official Rules
According to the Disney website, guests are allowed to bring outside food and non-alcoholic beverages into the park under certain conditions:
Not in glass containers Do not require heating, re-heating, or processing Do not require refrigeration or temperature control Do not have pungent odorsThese rules apply to all Walt Disney World parks.
Remember, Google is your best friend. You can find all this information directly on the Disney website.
By understanding and adhering to these rules, you can enjoy your visit to Disneyland to the fullest, with the convenience of your favorite snacks and beverages.
