Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s Head UPGRADES Appeal to Medical Professionals for Selfless Service

Peace be upon you. On December 5, 2019, the press release noted that the World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the Fifth Khalifa Caliph, His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, delivered a keynote address at the Annual Conference of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Medical Association UK (AMMA) on November 30, 2019. The event was held in Tilford, UK, at the Islamabad hall.

Stressed the Need for Selfless Service

During his address, His Holiness stressed the importance of Ahmadi Muslim doctors from the UK and abroad devoting their time to serve in hospitals established by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community across the world.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has built hospitals and medical facilities in several underdeveloped countries. However, there is a shortfall of doctors in many of these hospitals. Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad emphasized the need for UK-based doctors to offer their services for extended periods to help alleviate the shortage.

Encouragement for Remote and On-site Service

He said that it is not enough for doctors to travel for a few days or a couple of weeks in a year. Instead, a heartfelt spirit of sacrifice is required, and a genuine willingness to take time out of their lives to serve humanity.

Recognition of Dedicated Doctors

His Holiness highlighted that certain Ahmadi Muslim doctors in the United States were traveling for extended periods to serve at the Tahir Heart Institute in Rabwah, Pakistan. He particularly acknowledged the efforts of an Ahmadi Muslim doctor who moved to Pakistan for three years to serve full-time at the institute.

Waqf-e-Nau Scheme and Future Doctors

His Holiness particularly addressed the need for doctors who are part of the Waqf-e-Nau Scheme to step forward and fulfill their intentions of devoting their lives to serving their faith and humanity.

He stated that once members of the Waqf-e-Nau scheme have completed their medical training, they should present themselves to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community with the firm intention of fulfilling their Waqf life devotion, ready to serve in the community's hospitals in Africa or Pakistan.

Love and Humanity

His Holiness highlighted the importance of serving humanity as laid out by the Promised Messiah, peace be upon him. He quoted the Promised Messiah and said, “Sincerity towards others and love for humanity is a part of faith. The definition of the ‘highest moral values’ is that sincere kindness and sympathy be professed towards all humanity without any expectation of reward or recompense. This is what is known as true humanity… Allah the Almighty never forsakes those people who hold within their hearts sincere love for humanity.”

Sacrifice for Others

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad encouraged doctors to use their knowledge to help and serve humanity rather than using it to 'acquire riches of the world.' He stressed the significance of sacrificing significant periods of their lives to serve the humanitarian projects of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

Conclusion

His Holiness concluded his address by praying, “May Allah Almighty reward all those who understand the importance of serving others selflessly and who submit themselves for such service with the pure intention of lightening the burdens of humanity and seeking the pleasure of Allah the Almighty.”
