investigated 3 h after application. The pesticide spots were located by an enzyme-inhibition method using pig or rat acetylcholine esterases on a silica gel layer that was developed with a hexane: ethyl acetate mixture. The /fy-values were 0.71,0.54, and 0.88, respectively (73).
A new organonitrogen insecticide, -(2,4-dimethyl-phenyl)-//-methyl-formamidine, was determined on silica gel G plates developed with benzene-cyclohexane-methanol (1:1:1) mobile phase. The compound was detected with bismuth hyponitrite and potassium iodide reagents (73a) (Table 4).
D. Herbicides and Growth Regulators 1. Triazines
Triazines are very effective herbicides, controlling green foxtail, wild carrot, etc. in cotton, sunflower, sorghum, rice, or vegetable cultures. They exhibit a certain degree of persistency. Their chemical structure can be characterized by formulas shown in Fig. 4.
